Harry's story 

Harry had to force himself through the door to ask for help, scared his debts would ruin his girlfriend's life. Now, he has paid his final debt, and can finally move forward feeling free.  

Four years ago, when Harry first came to see us he was incredibly nervous; hood up, head down, almost forcing himself through the door.

He was struggling with significant debt from everyday bills after a lack of support and financial guidance, leaving him with a crushing weight to carry as he tried and tried to catch up.  

After some work with him, we were able to complete a PIP for him, and he got a back pay. He was delighted, and said that he didn’t want to write off his debt - now he had money coming in, he was determined to pay off all of his bills. 

Diana started to help him do just that. As the years passed, he had a cancer diagnosis, but still kept doggedly determined to pay off his debts, even when his mental health understandably dipped. 

Harry has just one more debt to pay off, after a long 4 years. He has always been reluctant to move in with his girlfriend because he was worried he would ruin her life both financially and because of his mental health. 

He finally feels a sense of achievement and optimism. Knowing he will be debt free, with a new clean start, he has finally felt secure enough to take the plunge and move in with her. Harry told our adviser that in a couple of months when his final debt has been cleared at last, he will need to save his money up... because they are going to get married.
